As a user/tester/etc, I have been talking to allot of users and content creators. one of the things that I kept hearing over and over is how hard the outfit editor is to use and that you can't just easily arrange all clothing/tat sublayers from the inventory screen. to that affect I have been busy colelcting and compiling ideas and here is the result that I and others have come up with:
1) have an optional way to replace the wear and take off menus on the avatar and inventory with menus that that have the specific sublayer.
2) move the wearing panel to the inventory tab
3) introduce a new panel with both a simple and advanced view that would completely replace the currant outfit editor. (see attachment for example mock up of advanced panel.) This panel would be:
a) consist of drag and drop slots that would allow you to drag any item, skin, shape, tattoo, clothing, etc, for fast intuitive equipping
b) allow rapid rearrangement of sub layers by simple dragging from one slot to another
c) have its own panel for previewing the avatar with eventual selection of preview poses, zooming, rotation, etc, for easy outfit previewing
d) eventually be totally customizable.
e) panel would NOT be docked but would be resizeable (and if need be scrollable) to allow for flexibility and accessibility.
