Here are some sketches I did based on Aleric's idea:

Here are some ideas of my own:
(Descriptions intentionally omitted, as we should not use the icons if
they aren't recognizable. If you can't figure them out, I can tell you
what I had in mind later on, in case someone wants to make better icons
for the same concepts.)
