I wonder if setting up a new community-run SLDev forum would be an
amenable idea, to supplement the Wiki (and this mailing list.)

Anyone can join, with near-zero moderation (just to keep it spam free.) 
I'd be willing to donate a commercial vBulletin license and a server to
host it, if the community would "self-manage" the forum.
