[sldev] Unable to login with beta-1.14.1.2 RC r60460 [was: beta-1.14.1.1 RC r59992] codebase

I downloaded and built the latest sources ((beta-1.14.1.2) 2007-Apr-13
release-candidate (beta, r60460)) and it still presents the same problems if
built as is: unable to log in (I only tried Agni and Aditi).

So I changed the LL_VERSION_* constants from 1.14.1.2 to 1.15.0.0 and didn't
get the nasty upgrade alert window, although the viewer crashed after login
during the precaching phase. This is an excerpt of the crash log with just
the info for the crashed thread:
