[sldev] SL Voice - major issues.

I want to share some frustration with the new SL Voice viewer. SL must be
trying to hijack volume controls
on my PC, because I'm having major major issues.

1. I can't click the volume control in my bottom-right taskbar.
2. I can't use my keyboard's volume button. (I wonder if there's a conflict
with Netropia Hotkey software?)
3. SL appears to mix audio now between voice, music, chat, and video. It's
really screwing up audio
for the various media types, for instance, the audio for a video stream will
play for about 3 seconds before
garbling and then turning silent.
4. There was no notice about the change in icons. This has caused confusion
among our clients, as well
as the need to replace old media textures where we included the icon in
instructions on how to turn on media players.
Changing these without notice really was not useful at all.

Oh, and the coup de grace:

5. Once I run SL, I can no longer power down my computer normally, nor shut
down any program on my computer
using the Task Manager. (I've spoken with others with this problem as well)


I can only conclude that the SLVoice client is:
1. Buggy as heck.
2. Taking control of the computer's audio at a very low level and messing
with it.


This all is extremely frustrating on a personal level, but more so is
causing a lot of work hand-holding with clients
and resolving issues. SL Voice should be a feature we all rave and cheer
about, and this is the exact opposite kind
of start for it that I anticipated. :(
