[sldev] Uh... what was with the sudden voice release?

Not a response to a specific post, but something that came to mind as  
I was reading the various messages in this thread.

Perhaps SL should be shipped with support for "socks" proxies, since  
that can be implemented at a low level with all network connections  
being redirected through "socks". This would also resolve the other  
proxy issues without having to add code to update all the various  
proxy libraries it's using simultaneously.
