[sldev] VWR-2036: Patch for consideration in the main client

Hi Farallon,

I let Coco and Torley know, and Torley replied in the issue:

Torley actually took the bold step of just importing the issue, so
there's not much to discuss; looks like we're likely to include the
patch (subject to review by the dev team).
