I don't think you should stress over the timeline for getting patches 
in.  We attend to patches when we have the bandwidth, and that's an 
unpredictable factor, determined in part by how complicated the patches 
are to deal with.

We've been bitten before by applying patches, and of course making 
changes of our own, without giving ourselves enough time to fully 
evaluate what was going on.  I'd really rather not commit either 
ourselves or you to deadlines, because deadlines mean rushing, and doing 
things in a rush means introducing bugs.  Follow the open source mantra: 
"it'll be ready when it's ready".

My advice would be to finish off your patch on a schedule that suits 
you; we look at patches pretty quickly for a first triage after they've 
been submitted, so it won't sit idle after you submit it.
