Right, but why should they? I could take some code I released, slap the
GPL2 on it, and not accept any patches. Or I could accept patches on the
condition you fly here and stand on your head. None of that would make
the original release less Open Source.

I have one, Nicholaz Beresford has another. 

In fact I work pretty much from that premise: At the time I don't so
much "contribute" as manage my own fork of the source. I would like to
see that stuff eventually merged, but it's not essential to me at the
time. If needed, I'll continue maintaining my fork as long as necessary.
