Hey,
I was going to comment about version control systems but I think I
want to stick to my main message:
Linden Lab knows subversion. Experimenting with new version control systems
at a time of major transition like this may be too much of a change.
People can still experiment with other version control systems in the
periphery around it.
Even though I'm participating in it myself now, I'm worried that a
debate about version control systems is coming a bit too early. It's a
potentially one of those meta discussions like what is the best editor
and you'd typically want to avoid these on a development list, as they
never end anyway. Time is needed to let a development community
coalesce first so that these discussions don't dominate.
The openness is appreciated but I'm worried it might easily turn into
paralysis. I would prefer it if Linden Lab just picked a version
control system that they already have experience with and said: this
is it, and that our discussions focus more on the code itself.
Regards,
Martijn
