[sldev] Weird crash

the backtrace command takes several minutes, I mean. Since there are about 40K 
lines full of junk, to debug it I would first need to find out how the loop 
started. backtrace -30 takes several minutes to get there.

kdevelop is even worse: it asks gdb for the full backtrace, and sits there 
while gdb delivers. That takes about half an hour on an Athlon 64 X2 5200+.

That makes it a real pain in the a**. Every time I try to debug my own code I 
have pretty good chances that it'll catch this instead and I'll have to abort 
execution.

I'm told here that LL_OCTREE_PARANOIA_CHECK makes SL fail a self-check and not 
do the whole stack overflow thing. Haven't had time to try that one yet 
though.

The existence of the option seems to suggest maybe LL knows something isn't 
100% right there, too.
