Sheesh, it's not a black or white sort of thing.
And it's not my IP address I'm concerned about, it's the sum of
information about me.
My IP address on some random website's log is unimportant. If I don't
want them to have anything at all, I just use tor.
My IP address, plus knowledge of who I am and what I do, etc, that's
what I consider rather too much info.
