[sldev] compiling the viewer

Thank you Max for giving me something to study. Let me go and work through this carefully over the weekend and see if I can get results. One last parting question. I noticed mention on the secondlife wiki that gcc 4 was not compatible with this compile and LL used gcc-3.4, so I am installing the compat-gcc-34-c++ package to hopefully allow both compilers to co-exist on this system.
