[sldev] Subtle STL bug in VC8/VS2005 build

Confirmed! My strange problems were likely all related to this as I
was crashing in either STL code or code related to things done via
STL. A new build of releasenoopt worked just fine, building a
releasefordownload now but I don't doubt it'll work too.
