Rob,

I don't undersntand this particular sentense. It is probably because
my poor English skills, but it is appreciated if you can explain it in
other words.

Hmm. I believe the simplest and most effective way to make this
process easier is either (1) trash the jira.secondlife.com and open
your _internal_ issue tracker to the public, or (2) trash your
_internal_ issue tracker and let Linden employees to use
jira.secondlife.com.
I guess you Linden Lab. has some proprietary info. in your internal
tracker, due to something such as NDA with third parties or residents'
privacy. I'm not saying you should disclose them. I'm just saying
you should share the issues repository with us. You should be able to
set some entry-by-entry access control mechanisms to protect your
proprietary things.
You discussed some problems in the current scheme, and they are all
reasonable, but you forgot another problem; having separate issue
trackers for Linden employees and for open source community wastes our
(open source developpers') effort.
For example, You mentioned about the duplicate issue filing in
jira.secondlife.com with your internal tracker. You seems to think of
only the way to effectively filter out those duplicates *after* the
duplicates are registered in jira.secondlife.com. Have you thought
oopen source developpers effort unnecessarily wasted to report the
bug? e.g., running the viewer again and again to pin the issue,
looking for shorter and easier repro, or writing understandable
English sentences to explain the issue, looking up English
dictionaries... (I know that tTe last effort may not be a problem for
some (large?) amount of the community...) The way to eliminate such
duplicate issue filings from the beginning is better than
post-filtering.
I want to know issues you Linden lab. has already recognized in your
internal tracker so that I don't waste my time.
