Which is why the FLOSS exception exists. OpenSSL is already used for
blowfish encryption, albeit in code apparently only called by the
servers. And it's already indirectly required due to curl using OpenSSL.

I think a compile time ifdef that can give the option to link to OpenSSL
MD5 or use inline code for GPL purists would be a good way to go.
