Because the UUID (or, in the long term, this URL) is used to
reference it from scripts and from references in assets and prims, so
here you are, you have a bunch of such secondary assets, and they're
in an attachment on your avatar... and you walk across a grid
boundary from one domain to another, get your attachment re-parented
in the new domain, turn around and walk back again... that stuff has
to continue working... even if someone else changes the texture
description of the "flaming sword" texture while you're over there.
