[sldev] Excluding specific prims from rendering

Can anyone point me to the best location in the codebase to remove certain
prims from rendering client-side? Specifically, I'm looking to prevent the
client-side rendering of prims based on object ID, creator, and/or owner.
Alternatively, the prims could be rendered but with a transparent texture
applied.

The basic idea I'm shooting for is to implement a sort of "visual mute"
feature that would prevent the rendering of objects by object ID, owner, and
and/or creator. Please see VWR-2773 for more detail.
