More to the point, to design a protocol for interoperability where 
OpenSim and LL's main grid are on equal footing as two different 
implementations of the protocol.

In the larger world-view, a properly designed WoW portal sim would be on 
equal footing with OS and LL, even though the bulk of WoW is not.
