Okay, I've been hesitant to bring this up because I know how much
everyone loves license discussions on this list, but someone else filed
a Jira and I'd like to call attention to it. :)
http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2882
What I'd like to know is if there's been any discussion on this within
Linden Lab. As this is ultimately Linden Lab's choice, I really don't
want to hear from the peanut gallery here. Take it to Jira or a wiki
page?
It seems GPLv3 is compatible with the Apache license. Speaking as a
Fedora maintainer, at the very least moving to "GPLv2+" rather than the
current "GPLv2 Only" would save a lot of potential future heartache, as
a lot of other projects are moving to GPLv3, and "GPLv2 Only" is
incompatible with GPLv3. Was there a reason LL went with v2 only, other
than past paranoia about what the GPLv3 was going to bring?
