On Linux/unix, gstreamer support recently landed in the client. Just
install an NSV plugin and bam, you've got NSV. In fact, I just tried it,
I'm playing NSV in totem right now. Looks like its the
"gstreamer-ffmpeg" plugin that handles it:

On Windows/OSX, Quicktime is used. Theoretically you should be able to
install an NSV plugin for QT and be done with it, but none seem to exist
that I can find. There doesn't even seem to be a DirectShow filter.

Your efforts would be better put into rectifying this situation, rather
than promulgating yet another damn library.
