How about extending this to allow a parcel owner to set some
attribute in whatever mechanism you're using to implement this (some
scripted object, I assume) to mark an adjacent parcel's contents (by
parcel boundaries, since the client already has this capability) as
being muted. So if I have a giant toilet or spinny box next door,
people using your client won't see them.
This would also act as a prototype for playing with the user
interface for some of the ideas that have been presented for sim-side
privacy controls. Like, displaying some particle system at the
location of muted avatars (I vote for a pac-man ghost sprite).
