One thing I'd like to see is on-demand grid reshaping.

While I don't own any, my understanding is that currently moving a region
is a slow process and involves specifically asking for it, as well as
paying a fee.

What I'd like is to give sim owners the possibility of connecting and
disconnecting their regions at will, with the consent of all the people
involved. Eg, want to throw a big party? 4 sim owners could agree with
each other, connect their sims and have it ready in a few minutes.

This could also create the possibility of people spontaneously creating
their own mainland.
