Shouldn't we simply say that this architecture should support any form of
regions? :-)

Some people (me included) actually like to have some sort of continent be it
implemented as you will. Some might want to
do things like solar systems or completely different region shapes. Maybe it
might not even be some 3d space but something
completely different.

I just would assume that Linden Lab will implement regions like we have them
right now first
as they want to port the existing grid to this new architecture. We just
should make sure that
the protocol does allow for more.
