Duck typing is probably close enough, actually.  I mean, you don't need 
to inherit from an abstract base class to implement a simple API.  The 
way I'm doing this is right now (though this could probably use some 
improvement) is the Context object has a member that implements a 
'store' method and an 'objects' method, and that's the entire API.  
There's an implementation that uses files, but it should be 
straightforward to implement it using MySQL or whatever you like.
