I didn't claim mesh complexity doesn't matter. I'm not arguing  
against your post, even. I'm just correcting a technical point.

The problems with sculpties originate in the fact that the  
implementation is not nearly complete. It's not just the physics: the  
implementation is missing promised functionality in the LSL interface  
(you can't even query sculpt parameters yet... thy come back as a  
donut), in the user interface (you can't set some of the sculpt  
parameters in the editor at all), and in the features (like  
flexibility and animation).

This isn't something I'm making up, this is all from Qarl Linden.  
Sculpties are a "work in progress" far more than most things in  
Second Life. He has said that they will eventually have an actual  
approximation of the shape of sculpties in the sim, what it's  
currently got is a stopgap.
