Well I tested out a bowling alley I made some time ago but could never sell
because 1 in 20-30 times you hit a lot of pins it would crash the sim.
I never got the sim to crash but...
The physics engine seems to be /at least/ twice as slow as the current one
according to the numbers. 11 objects interacting in a tight space for a
couple of seconds sends the the entire sim into time dilation down to 0.5,
physics engine to 25 fps and a physics frame time of up to 32ms! That is a
huge hit. Testing on my private sim the hits are not nearly as severe.
Beyond that, the physics are much MUCH more sluggish.Especially when
dragging the ball around. The beta /feels/ like it is actually like 5 or 10
times slower when hand moving stuff using grab...
Is there a chance that it is running in like a debug mode or logging mode
that is slowing it down? Or is this a by product of the abstraction layer?
Or is this running full speed? (Sim was empty and everything was running
full speed during my testing, lag only hit when I bowled)
Besides being more secure I was /really/ hoping that Havok 4 would be like 5
times as efficient as havok 1...
I will post findings on the beta site...
