[sldev] [META] Formal critique of new auth mechanism?

I've now done an editorial pass (and thanks to Argent for doing an initial pass), and either merged points or taking working group chair perogative to delete a point if I felt it was duplicating something elsewhere.
 
I've also added an introductory summary.
 
Could those who have either added their name or contributed look through it to make sure that their point has not been misrepresented or lost in the edits?
