Thanks Rob. I've been asking around and no-one else seems to notice a 
definite change between RC and R, so I suspect Dahlia's correct: the two 
are probably using different settings files. If I can't get rid of it by 
fiddling with preferences, I'll definitely file it since its annoying. I 
can "moonwalk" for up to 10-15 seconds in some sims and suddenly jump 
ahead the distance I should have walked during that time when using the 
release viewer, and walk normally in the same sim in the same spot with 
the RC.
