Looking at the bug entry this is exactly what I am referring to. A clear
description of a specific problem with the source code which is left
unanswered by the developers.
Worse, from the comment that the person at Linden left it appears that
you broke some rule and are now punished for it. Well, in my opinion it
makes no sense to be able to assign bugs to developers at Linden if that
is not wanted.
Personally, I am usually very hesitant trying to write a public patch
for a subsystem which I do not fully understand since it invites bugs so
I usually write a small bandaid fix for my own purposes to verify the
issue then try to discuss the problem. Unfortunately that approach seems
not to work so I guess in a few months my quilt folder will be full of
small patches which make the viewer more stable on my system but never
make it into the official viewer since the developers may not even have
heard about it.
Thinking about your worries I guess they are founded but I also doubt it
makes sense to discuss wild guesses and speculations about internal LL
politics.
I simply enjoy looking at all the screws in the viewer and playing with
them to learn more about the way a virtual environment works. So
reporting and discussing problems that I find along the way seems only fair.
Regards,
Carsten
