I'll respond to some of the points you raised in this thread there.

I might be biased because this is an issue that I raised and thus was
more interested in it, but I think the conversation on this issue didn't
set off red flags for me in the same way that past conversations have
because most folks were both civil and didn't try to hog the microphone,
so to speak.
