This change in how group IM-s work will have a huge impact and perhaps
it should not be rushed into live viewer so fast. It changes how
groups like "Advanced Scripters of Second Life" operate. No longer
will you get the new IM tab open automatically when someone has a
question. Cluttering already badly designed communicate window with
tabs for each group that you would want to get chat from is not really
an option. From usability POV it would be a nightmare.
Many communities in SL depend on being able to communicate in this
way, this is not a small change.
If you really want to improve usability some form of "auto open IM tab
when there is chatter in the group" is necessary. Again, having to
have 10 - 15 IM tabs open would be such a usability downgrade.
And how about implementing what everybody really wants, a check box
saying "do not receive IMs from this group".
