There shouldn't be a forcible opt-out of groups that makes you go through the obstacle of entering their chat. If more people had open groups that you could join and quit at will without queueing up for an invitation, if you were annoyed with the chat, you could just leave. I think many people would prefer the ability to keep open groups, yet be able to ban some members who spam. I think this problem is grossly overblown and would not opt for the Lindens do anything on this as it's a new feature and they should fix what's broken already about groups.
