I don't see a lot of value in this. Linden Lab already has a KDU license, so
it adds little value to them. Not a lot of value to open source, OSX is
something of a minority platform, (everything is, next to Windows) open
source effort seems best spent on improving OpenJPEG. But I also see nothing
wrong with it. If it's shipped with OSX, it should fall under the 'system
libraries' exception in the GPL.

Patches welcome. :) There's already some abstraction in the code to allow
switching between KDU and OpenJPEG, so plugging in support for Apple's
framework should be possible to do without disturbing things too much.
