(Yeah, I admit that's propaganda. But I think the point is valid.)
Taking away the users' control over hardware they've bought is IMHO
morally as questionable as is illegally copying content. A small hurdle
(as the current obfuscation) can't hurt, so that nobody breaks the law
without even noticing himself. Everything else is either futile or will
bring too much collateral damage with it (sometimes even both).
