[sldev] New graphics card with old Viewer

I think i got a big problem. I have a viewer (version 1.18.1.2) that got 
some changes by me.

Now i got a new graphics card: gforce 8500gt

The current version of the viewer runs on it without any problems but 
with my older edited viewer i m not able to start SL.
My changed viewer says that i need a newer driver, but its the newest 
i've found.

Is there any way to add graphic card support on the older version or to 
update it easily to a newer one without doing all the stuff i changed a 
second time?
