[sldev] Cache politics: performance vs obfuscation

On a related note, I would like to ask Linden Lab, if a better cache system was developed by someone for inclusion in the viewer, what is the likelihood that such a patch would be accepted? Is LL willing to do any/some/all of the things suggested or is all this discussion for naught?  Are there any hard requirements to make a new cache system acceptable for the production viewer, or any things which would absolutely preclude a particular cache system from being accpeted?
