Even though I did not test voice on Linux (the 32 bit SLVoice executable
seems not to work properly together with an 64 Bit viewer) I assume it
is the same as in Windows where the SLVoice application that is started
in the background simply writes its output directly to the sound device
and the SL viewer only controls the setup.

On Linux this only works if your sound system is setup to support
several applications opening the sound device in parallel.

Personally I setup ALSA with the dmix-plugin to make it possible and
since KDE also allows arts to go through ALSA I now have all (behaving)
applications output sound concurrently.

Carsten
