Is there any way possible to frame this in a way that doesn't 
effectively BSD the entire source code?  Talk about viral, heh.

A cross license for "OpenSim Project participants" would be like opening 
pandora's box.  It would be similar to the MS indemnity fiasco that 
effectively gave all GPL users indemnity from MS.

I think the best you could hope for would be some kind of non-committal 
gentleman's agreement with LL.
