Debian all works pretty nicely IMHO ;-)

Currently we have a few missing libraries :-

Openjpeg, i'm nearly there with any luck it will enter unstable in the
next few days

xmlrpc-epi... umm this bites everyone in the ass. Attempting an
upstream takeover to bring package upto date, with any luck will be
able to update sourceforge page and then debian and fedora packages
can start with a up to date upstream

llmozlib, yea it builds against xulrunner and all seems ok to me.

If you are on debian 4.X you will have c-ares missing, can be
backported no problems from lenny. OpenGL will also bite hard on Etch
in some cases, highly recommended you upgrade mesa-common-dev to the
version in lenny (this will upgrade all opengl packages as they are
all dependent).

Or if your really lazy you can just apt-get a secondlife :-

I'm hosting all the missing libraries in an apt repository as well as
the viewer and artwork.i386/amd64 and powerpc builds. Free components
only, some stability patches too.

it *should* install and run on etch ok, just watch out for mesa/gl , i
build all uploaded debs in a clean etch chroot.
