Hard case to fight? It is completely without merit.
I was under the impression the original question was copyright
violation. "Derivative works" is a concept from copyright law. If *IP*
law is really the worry here, then that worry is completely unfounded,
and yes it has nothing to do with which open source license is used. The
only people who could possibly be sued by LL under IP law are its own
employees, or former employees, who have had access to LL's *closed*
source code.
