I have come to agree that OpenSIM's position is a bit over the top,  
but it's their call.

And, really, the way some GPL proponents have interpreted "derivative  
code" has been a little strange now and then... to the point where  
they seem to be trying to get the effect of "interface copyrights"  
without using just those terms... so their fears can't just be  
blithely dismissed.
