[sldev] Sims and Script Security

Yes, I understand the complexities and limitations of what is being proposed for the future, although I would count myself in the minority amongst creators in that respect.

I appreciate the reply, even in it's most unofficial of contexts. :)

While I can't give "official" word, what Lawson said jibes perfectly with my understanding with how we conduct this sort of stuff: we very much value people's intellectual property rights in the stuff they create; without creators/builders/scripters, there is no Second Life. So we're not going to do something that poses a significant risk to those, and if something we do do causes a significant amount of nervousness in people, we will of course give that a lot of attention.

Note that this is not to say that the road that others have taken/suggested with no access controls is invalid; that understanding just needs to exist up front among creators. If SL ever went that direction we'd have no right to take existing content and do away with the technological controls and legal protections without permission; we'd have to have a new category of content.

I would like to think so myself. It would just be nice to have some official word on this from either side.

I would love to attend in-world meetings, but being gainfully employed and on the West Coast means they are all mostly happening while I'm at work. Such is life. :)
