Matthew, even though I share your opinion that the original posting was
not quite diplomatic, I think you're a bit out of line here. I know some
"technically challenged" people who managed to replace computer hardware
with no problems.
I also second the argument that business people usually don't have the
required high end hardware to get the utmost experience but at least
they can still run it.
The point was that you do not have to spend hundreds of real $$$ to get
a vast improvement.
Actually I see a chance for the open source community here to be able to
contribute something by testing SL on various hardware setups and trying
to pinpoint problems.
PS: really just nitpicking but a PNP-kernel driver is never loaded if
the card which belongs to it is no longer present in the system.
Granted, if you don't uninstall the user space applications that came
with the driver there's a chance some junk remains which might give you
trouble but it can't be LLs fault if the vendors of graphics cards have
buggy driver installers that mess up the system if the hardware is no
longer present.
