Interesting point, probably true.

Ultimately, I think my preference would be to integrate the voice  
meter into the name tag in some way, as suggested in the comments on  
VWR-328. Display a no-voice icon in the tag, one item attached to each  
avatar is plenty. As the speech indicator is rigidly fixed the  
avatar's world coordinates and the name tag moves around more fluidly  
it's not always obvious which voice visualizer applies to which  
avatar, especially if they are animated out of place in some way. The  
issue of what to do when name tags are hidden also needs to be  
considered though, as you may still need voice indication, I guess  
that would work similarly to hiding the group title now, you could  
hide the name also and just show voice meter in the tag.

I would also like it to be possible to indicate "listen only" status  
in there, an ear icon maybe, as frequently I have headphones on and  
can listen, but can't reply in voice as it would disturb people around  
me in RL.
