[sldev] Merge window for our first release

Hi all,

Per my previous email, we want to get something out absolutely no later
than June 30, so we'll want to close the merge window (Phase I in my
previous mail) much sooner than that.

The marquee feature for this first release is the new map tile work,
with HTTP textures. Other enhancements should be minor, and should have
mainstream appeal. Since we've already got the features that we want,
perhaps the only reason why the merge window isn't closed yet is because
we're only now talking about the merge window as a concept. Given our
constraints, we'd like to shoot for May 1 as the end of the merge window
for this cycle.

So, are there other patches in JIRA that seem worthy of making it in
before the first merge window, and are there volunteers to shepherd
those patches through? Aimee and I have been talking about VWR-12748
(Minimap zoom level) over on irc.efnet.org #opensl, which is a
possibility. Given some of the VFS rework that's gone on in the 1.26
server (which is shared by the viewer), there's a little bit of mumbling
about possibly pulling that in (seems like a big stability improvement
on the simulator side from our initial observations). I imagine we'll
need to get some of the 1.23 changes in. It's hard to say yet whether
easybuild will make it in. Are there others that we should get in there
now?

Rob
