The people most likely to be helping out on these branches are also many
of the ones who want standalone and building on 64 boxes to build out of
the box.

As this is the first of the open source branches then this makes a lot
of sense, and when anyone is testing features and fixes from other
branches, they will always know where to check for a build failure fix,
and its likely that more community contributions will directly come if
there are any 64bit build busters as there are a good few of us testing
with 64bit systems (and we tend to be the noisy ones too ;-p )

As I started on the discussion of the easybuild branch, i'm quite keen
for Robs idea there to merge that in ASAP to http-texture and to get
other build fixes esp the windows ones in there to make building easier
for everyone and lower the bar for first time compiling.
