[sldev] SNOW-112 : Corrupted map possible patch

Hi guys,

I stumbled on an idea today about that weird bug and posted a very  
small patch that could be a solution to the problem. The thing though  
is that I tested on Windows only and have a hell of a problem to repro  
that issue in the first place. Browsing the comments in similar bugs  
(SNOW-111), it seems that the bug is more prevalent on Linux though.

So, if one of our Linux geeks around could apply that patch to the  
source, build and test, that would be wonderful! In particular, if you  
have been plagued by that bug and could do that test, that would even  
be better :)

Please post comments and observations in the PJIRA (SNOW-112).
