Hi Rob,

I've posted a comment on the JIRA
(http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-13793) regarding testing to get
Second Life running in openSUSE Linux on standardized AMD/ATI hardware.

ATI has traditionally been seen as a less-preferred graphics solution in
Second Life, however, my private startup company is both an AMD Solution
Partner and in SL.

I have already found myself offering graphics driver support to residents
in-world with ATI graphics on several occasions.

While residents try to get SL running on Linux boxes, is there any formal
online help or support places to help them successfully do it - and not just
for NVIDIA(R), but ATI as well...

Any thoughts?

DMC Zsigmond

Subject: [sldev] Numbers on 32-bit vs 64-bit Linux deskop adoption

I've been doing a little asking around about 32-bit vs 64-bit Linux desktop
adoption, and got the following mail. Based on one reasonably current
estimate, 64-bit adoption is running at about 24.6%.

I filed a feature request in JIRA as a place to gather up conversation on
this topic:

If you have other sources of data, please post them there.

Thanks!
Rob

To get numbers for Fedora, I went to the Smolt page and clicked "Host based
statistics"

Arch Count % of total
i686 177386 75.0 %
x86_64 58125 24.6 %

I think Smolt is opt-in at the end of the installation process.
