Windows XP x64 is very much unsupported. It peaked with as many users
as a small Linux distro and has only been shrinking since. But if you
would capture this in a JIRA and search for the block in the log file
where it's doing system identification (or email me your log
privately), we'll see if there's a quick fix.
You might also give Vista 64 a try if you haven't yet. xp64's 32-bit
compatibility subsystem is a mess. Even if Vista 64 is more bloated,
its 32-bit compatibility is far better. Vista 64 also makes much
better use of that extra memory for disk cache.
Does 1.23 misguess your card's capabilities as well?
